CAUSE and EFFECT
Cause and Effect
King David was NOT born a sinner as believed by many who based their argument on Psalm 51:5. He was born witha fallen sinful nature. To be born with a fallen sinful nature does not make one automatically a sinner. Adultery is sin. Murder is sin. But the fallen sinful nature is NOT sin. No baby that is born five minutes ago with a fallen sinful nature is a sinner. This includes everyone who is reading this email when you were born.
2. How does one become a sinner?
One is a sinner by “the transgression of the law” – 1 John 3:4. No one is a sinner by birth. You became a sinner because you had chosen to sin later in life when you grew up from babyhood to a certain age, and only God knows when that age of responsibility was, and what sin you first committed.
3. The fallen sinful nature
Inheriting a fallen sinful nature does not make one a sinner. When Adam sinned, he never had a fallen sinful nature. He only inherited the fallen sinful nature after committing sin. The fallen sinful nature is the EFFECT [RESULT] of sin, not the CAUSE.
4. IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN WHAT WE ARE SAYING?
The SDA Church believes that, “David was born a sinner,” [Psalm 51:5]. Whereas we believe that, “The Bible teaches that everyone including King David are not born sinners; we are all born with a fallen sinful nature.” The difference is so huge but many cannot see it.
The SDA Church says, “One does not have to do bad things to be a sinner, and not doing bad things does not make one sinless. In order to be a sinner, all one has to do is to be born. All of us are born with inherent sinful natures. Mankind is not only born in sin but continues in sin.”

The Truth is, "One is born with a fallen sinful nature. No one is conditioned to sin by his inherent fallen sinful nature. In order to be a sinner, all one has to do is to break the law of God. All of us are born with inherent sinful natures. Mankind is born with a fallen sinful nature and we can overcome all temptations and live a life without sin by God's power."
5. WHY DO WE NEED A SAVIOR?
WE need a Savior because we have sinned – we have transgressed the law of God – 1 John 3:4. Not because we have a fallen sinful nature. Our fallen sinful nature is NOT sin. Because of the sins we committed, we needed a Savior.
We are to get rid of SIN by God’s power. But we cannot get rid of our fallen sinful nature. Anyone with a fallen sinful nature who gets rid of sin by divine power will have an entry to heaven. But anyone who commits sin without repentance will not be allowed to heaven. Though you have a fallen sinful nature, nonetheless, that is not the thing that will shut you out of heaven because that is NOT sin.
